샤넬 홍콩 Chanel Hong Kong   샤넬의 아이콘, 샤넬 No.5   취재 _ 최지영 기자         사진_ CHANEL 제공 자료제공_월간 MARU(02-455-8040, www.maruid.co.kr)   2005년 12월, 홍콩 도심 가운데 샤넬 부티크가 문을 열자 중국 명품업계에 큰 반향을 불러일으켰다. 오피스 타워와 호텔 등이 집약된 홍콩 경제 특구의 한 가운데 20년간 고고하게 있었던 샤넬 부티크가 건축가 피터 마리노에 의해 기술과 패션의 만남으로 드라마틱한 랜드마크적 건물로 변신한 것이다. 패션과 화인 주얼리가 LED 테크놀로지와 현대미술이 어우러진 ‘샤넬 홍콩’을 통해 샤넬의 창의성과 현대성을 다시 한번 확인시켜 주었다. 낮의 파사드는 블랙 라인의 고급스러운 샤넬 No.5 퍼퓸 케이스를 연상케 한 다. 밤에 보이는 눈부신 화이트 글라스로 투명함과 21,000여개의 LED 빛의 요소들을 부각시킨 흥미로운 파사드는 샤넬의 아이덴티티를 확고하게 표현한다. 샤넬 부티크는 3개 층으로 구성되어 있으며, 물흐르는 듯한 계단을 오르면서 의류, 액세서리, 신발 등을 자연스럽게 볼 수 있게 계획되어있다. 반면, 화인 주얼리와 시계 판매 공간은 프라이빗한 룸과 같은 공간으로 구성되어 있어 아늑하면서 고급스러움을 준다. 화려함 가득한 부티크라기보다는 고객들이 편안하게 느끼고 특별한 경험을 즐길 수 있는 ‘샤넬 홍콩’은 현대적인 럭셔리와 오랫동안 유지해온 샤넬 특유의 스타일과 결합되어 멋스러움을 자아낸다. 샤넬과 피터 마리노는 샤넬 No.5와 같은 5명의 예술가에게 창의적인 에너지와 건물의 혁신성을 반영하는 작품을 요청하였다. 가브리엘 샤넬은 당시 평범한 듯한 사물에 대한 애정을 갖고 있었는데, 그 오브제들은 트위드 패브릭, 신화적 동물 장식품, 진주목걸이, 까멜리아꽃, 다이아몬드였다. 이 다섯 가지는 오늘날 샤넬의 상징적인 아이콘이 되었다. 미할 로브너, 프랑소아 자비에 라란느, 조셉 스타쉬케베츠, 비크 무니즈, 쟝-미쉘 오토니엘 5명의 작가는 각각 아이콘을 재해석하여 만든 작품들은 샤넬 홍콩의 일부분이 되었다.   예술과 패션, 예술과 건축의 가치를 아는 샤넬의 이러한 시도로 인해 모든 것이 어우러져 하나의 예술작품으로 탄생하였다. 파리, 맨하탄, 긴자. 이 세곳의 샤넬 부티크와 동일한 방식으로 기획된 샤넬 홍콩은 단순한 패션과 주얼리 부티크 이상의 의미를 지니며, 중국 나아가 아태 지역에 샤넬 아이콘으로 자리 잡고 있다. MARU   On December 5th, the latest Chanel flagship store opens on Hongkong, setting a new standard for prestige retailing in China. By combining fashion and fine jewellery with LED technology and contemporary art, Chanel reconfirm their unparalleled creativity and modernity. The Chanel boutique has stood, for the best part of twenty years among the office tower and hotel in Hong Kong. Now dramatically transformed by New York architect Peter Marino, a five storey LED facade rises above 2 new boutiques in a daring statement of intent for the Asia Pacific region."The iconic Chanel No.5 perfume box - perfect proportions with a thin black line- was the idea for the facade",Marino explains. " We added the elements of transparency and light with white luminous glass that will change as often as fashion does, therefore making it the ultimate fashion store" The fashion boutique has been restyled and set on three floors, embraced by a 'floationg“ staircase that twists and turns eight times as it meanders through the clothing, accessories and shoe rooms. In contrast, the new fine jewellery and watch salons are deliberately intimate, inspired by the eclecticism of Mademoiselle Chanel's apartment at rue Cambon where she used to live and works. Chanel have commissioned other acclaimed artists to collaborate on works that reflect the creative energy and innovation of the building itself.
